REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY CONFERENCE
Our representative democracy falls far short of what Americans need and deserve. Every adult citizen should have fair and secure access to the ballot, grounded in a Constitutional right to vote. Every voter should have the freedom to vote for the candidates they like the most without fearing they will help elect the candidates they like the least. Our votes should earn a fair share of seats in our legislatures no matter where we live, and our current gerrymandered, winner-take-all system needs to be replaced. The White House should go to the candidate who seeks and earns votes from all Americans in a direct popular vote.
Wins in cities and states are showing the way forward, and energy for reform is soaring. Find out what can be done to restore and sustain truly Representative Democracy that is inclusive with ease of participation and accessibility to all.
In the Representative Democracy Conference we’ll discuss and share best practices on the following issues relating to representation and participation at all levels of elected office:
- Proportional representation
- Comprehensive solutions to gerrymandering
- Campaign finance reform
- Felony re-enfranchisement
- Ranked choice voting
- Voter registration
- Constitutional right to vote
